Alfonso The 5., known as The Magnanimous, was born in 1396.  The Magnanimous' father was King Ferdinand The 1. (The Just or The Honest) of House Trastámara and his mother was Queen Consort Eleanor of House Trastámara.  His paternal grandparents were King John The 1. of House Trastámara and Queen Consort Eleanor of House Barcelona; his maternal grandparents were Count Sancho Alfonso of The Castilian House of Burgundy and Countess Beatrice of The Portuguese House of Burgundy. He had a brother and two sisters, named The Great and The Faithless, Eleanor and Maria.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 62 on June 27th, 1458.
