Martha was born about 1762 and her baptism took place on June 25th, 1762 in West Dean Near Chichester, Sussex, England.  Martha's father was Thomas Sprent and her mother was Martha Martin. She had a brother and a sister, named Thomas and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the three children.
