Juaquin's father was Cristino (Tuno) Manapul Vinuya and his mother was Geralda Balagtas.  His paternal grandparents were Lauriano Vinuya and Deogracia Manapul. He had a brother and two sisters, named Piring, Dingga and Veronica.  He was the oldest of the four children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Jaime, Agang and Paring.
