Richard Newton

Richard was born about October 1768 and his baptism took place on October 9th, 1768 in Exford, Somerset, Parish Church.¹ Richard's father was John Newton and his mother was Joan Tar. His paternal grandparents were Henry Newton and Melior Winsburson?; his maternal grandparents were George Tar and Elizabath Huckstable. He had four brothers and two sisters, named John, Henry, William, James, Mary and Joan. He was the second oldest of the seven known children.
