Walter Irwin

Walter was born on January 3rd, 1860 in Kirklinton, Cumberland.¹

- I have not found corresponding birth registration index entries for Walter Irwin or Walter Irving for the period Q2 1859 through Q4 1860 other than the Walter Irwin registration Longtown Cumb. Q4 1860 v10b p357.
  
  This suggests a long delay in registering the birth or that the Walter Irving shown in 1861 Census as born late 1860 to Jane Percival is in fact the Walter Irwin with birth registration above.

Walter's father was Walter Irving and his mother was Jane. His paternal grandparents were James Irving and Catherine Burgess. He had three sisters named Mary, Janet and Isabella. He was the oldest of the four known children.
