Harold was born in 1908.  Harold's father was Frederick William Murdock and his mother was Marian Chambers.  His paternal grandparents were Mr Alexander Murdock and Sarah Edmundson. He had five brothers and two sisters, named Alexander, Frederick, Charles, George, Ernie, Marion "Sissie" and Eileen.  He was the sixth oldest of the eight children.  He died at the age of 94 in 2002.  The funeral took place in Elstree, Near London.
