Jane Brodie

Jane was born on January 1st, 1850 in Glasgow and her baptism took place on September 27th, 1850. Jane's father was Hugh Brodie and her mother was Agnes Motion. Her maternal grandparents were Alexander Motion and Jean Brown. She had five brothers and two sisters, named Malcolm, Hugh, Alexander, James, Donald, Agnes and Mary. She was the oldest of the eight children. She died due to Tuberculosis at the age of 24 on November 16th, 1874 in Glasgow. Her burial was in Sighthill.

- Died at 12 Marlow Street, Kinning Park, Glasgow. Buried at Sighthill Cemetery H No. 357.

General Notes
- Jane died of tuberculosis which she had had for two years. During this time she had three children. Andrew in 1870 who died young and then another Andrew in 1872. She had a daughter Jean in 1874 who was born in the United States. She must have come home to die in Scotland. Jean was brought up by Robert Moffat's brother David and his wife Agnes (nee Townsend). Robert returned to Manchester with Andrew whom he brought up.
