José María was born in 1963.  José María's father was Eladio Melero (García) and his mother is Pilar Arranz (De Andrés).  His paternal grandparents were Ricardo Melero (González) and Felicitas García (Sacristán).  He is the youngest of two children.  He has a brother named Ricardo.
