Pilar's father was Francisco De Francisco and her mother was Felipa Martínez (González).  Her maternal grandparents were  Román Martínez (González) and  Petra González (De Frutos).  She is the fifth of eight children.  She had three brothers and four sisters, named Luis, Julián , Santos, Mª Jesús, Petra, Amparo and Isabel.
