Janet was born on December 1st, 1815 in Littleness, Dunrossness.  Janet's father was Thomas Goudie and her mother was Grizel Mainland.  Her maternal grandparents were James Mainland and Janet Sinclair.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 72 on July 24th, 1888 in Rerwick, Dunrossness.
