Walter was born in 1928.  Walter's father was William Bain and his mother was Fanny (Frances) Fraser.  His paternal grandparents were George Bain and Helen Warden; his maternal grandparents were Thomas Fraser and Margaret McKenzie.  He had a brother and a sister, named Charlie and Nelly.  He had a half-brother and four half-sisters, named Bill, Maggie, Alice, Fanny and Mary.  He died at the age of 79 in 2007.
