Ruel was born in 1785.  Ruel's father was Ruel Webster and his mother was Polly Metcalfe.  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Webster and Ruth Holdridge. He had two brothers and a sister, named Aaron, Moses and Ruth.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 32 on June 20th, 1817.
