Laban was born on April 29th, 1826.  Laban's father was Aaron Webster and his mother was Jemima Braley.  His paternal grandparents were Jonathan Webster and Ruth Holdridge. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Morris, Thomas, Orvilla, Philo, Lyman, Chritiana, Lucretia, Marinda, Manerva, Lucina and Maryette.  He was the eleventh oldest of the twelve children.  He died at the age of 53 on August 29th, 1879.
