Frederica's father was George V King of Hanover and her mother was Marie of Altenburg.  Her paternal grandparents were Ernest Augustus King of Hanover and Duke of Cumberland and Frederica of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. She had a brother named Earnest Duke of Cumberland.
