Catherine's father was Philip of Hapsburgs and her mother was Juanna of Spain.  Her paternal grandparents were Maximilan I King of Spain and Mary of Burgundy; her maternal grandparents were Ferdinand  King of Spain and Isabella Queen of Spain. She had two brothers and three sisters, named Charles I King of Spain (Emperor Charles V), Ferdinand I Emperor of Spain, Isabella, Eleanor and Mary.
