عمر was born in 1937.  عمر's father is عارف محي الدين البلعه and his mother is خديجة توفيق (بهلوان).  His paternal grandfather was محي  الدين احمد البلعه and his paternal grandmother is يسر (قاطرجي). He had five brothers and three sisters, named كمال, محي الدين, عادل, محمد, سمير, يسر, هيفا and سميرة.  He died at the age of 73 in 2010.
