Матвей was born in 1871 in Вятская губ Ялабужскаго уезда Петуховской вол д. Русский Ленвай.  Матвей's father is Леонтий Скорев and his mother is Лукерья Лаврентьевна-Скорева. He had three brothers named Андрей, Ермолай and Гавриил.  He was the oldest of the four children.  He died at the age of 71 in 1942.
