Прокопей was born in 1742 in Кармацкое-Успенка с..  Прокопей's father is Фёдор Кожин and his mother is Степанида Спиридоновна Шешкова-Кожина.  His paternal grandparents are Кирюшка Алексеевич Кожин and <Unknown>; his maternal grandparents are Спиридон Шешков and <Unknown>. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Дементей, Василей, 2ой, Афимья, Наталья and Степанида.  He was the third youngest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 24 in 1766.
