Egidus was born on September 3rd, 1671 in Hingene, Antwerp, Belgium.  Egidus' father was Cornelius Van Damme and his mother was Maria Michiels.  His paternal grandparents were Egidus Van Damme and Judoca Magnus; his maternal grandfather is Michaelis Michiels. He had a brother named Amandus Jan Philipus.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 92 on February 25th, 1764 in Nattenbaasdonk, Antwerpen, Belgium.
