Charles was born in 1675 in , Northamptonshire, , England.  Charles' father was Robert Spencer, Earl of Sunderland and his mother was Anne Digby of Bristol.  His paternal grandparents were Henry Henry Spencer, 1st Earl of Sunderland and Dorothy Sydney of Leicester.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 47 on April 19th, 1722 in Piccadilly, London, , England.
