James was born on April 29th, 1896.  James' father was John Fitzgerald and his mother was Ellen (Nell) Ashe (Fitzgerald).  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Ashe and Mary Hassett or Holly (Ashe).  He had a sister named Anna.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 65 on April 25th, 1962.
