  • Jean Elizabeth Cunningham Trauernicht, 92, of Seaside, died Friday, Nov. 14, 2008, in Seaside.
    
    She was born July 7, 1916, in Dunnville, Ky., to Ernest Lee and Eula Genevieve (Morris) Winfrey. She was educated in Nashville, Tenn., public schools and graduated from Goodlettsville (Tenn.) High School.
    
    In 1934, she married Herbert Cunningham. He preceded her in death in 1961.
    
    In 1968, she married Marshall Trauernicht. He preceded her in death in March 1995.
    
    Mrs. Trauernicht was employed in the Nashville Public Works Department for several years and was also a homemaker. She moved to Astoria in June 1995. She later moved to a nursing home in Seaside.
    
    She was a member of Hillhurst Baptist Church. She was a member and Worthy Matron in the East Nashville Chapter No. 1 Order of the Eastern Star.
    
    Family members said she enjoyed music and was an accomplished pianist.
    
    She is survived by a son and daughter-in law, William R. "Bill" and Betty Cunningham of Astoria; a stepson, Harold Trauernicht and his wife, Annie, of Nashville; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Faye and James Shoemake of Hendersonville, Tenn., and Rosie and L.S. Williams of Goodlettsville; a sister-in-law, Kathleen Winfrey of Nashville; an aunt, Ruth Isabell of Franklin, Tenn.; nine grandchildren, Mike Johnson and Dixie Dowaliby and her husband, Todd, all of Hammond, Nancy Kennell and her husband, Van, and James Cunningham, all of Astoria, Alan Avriett of Orlando, Fla., Scott Avriett and his wife, Stephanie, of Tampa, Fla., Bart Mallard of Los Angeles, Julie Mallard of Memphis, Tenn., and Johnna Ivey of Atlanta; 13 great-grandchildren, Laurie Kennell of Coos Bay, Daniel Kennell of Astoria, Meg, Kim, Kara and Mara Dowaliby of Hammond, Caleb and William Cunningham of Scappoose, A.J. Avriett of Orlando, Isabell, Gracie and Benjamin Avriett of Tampa and Alissa Stewart of Memphis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    
    She was preceded in death by two daughters, Anne Ivey and Marilyn Avriett; a son, Walt Cunningham; a brother, Phillip Winfrey; and a great-granddaughter, Dusty Ivey.
    
    A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Caldwell's Luce-Layton Mortuary.
    
    A graveside service will take place at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Ocean View Cemetery in Warrenton. A reception will follow at the Warrenton First Baptist Church.
