Garrelt was born on July 14th, 1874 in Germany.  Garrelt's father was Jann Garrelts Trauernicht and his mother was Etta Catharina Hinrichs.  His paternal grandparents were Garrelt Janssen Trauernicht and Töbke Peben. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Hinrich, Johann, Hinrich, Päbe, Töbke and Anna.  He was the third oldest of the seven children.  He died at the age of 90 on December 24th, 1964 in Beatrice, Gage County, Nebraska.




Garrelt's family

Garrelt and Louise were married in a religious ceremony on March 23rd, 1905 in Pickrell, Gage County, Nebraska by minister J.B. Reents. They had seven sons and four daughters, named John, Edwin, Herman, Wilhelm, Alfred, Ollie, Elmer, Emma, Clara, Rose and ArleneAlfred and Ollie were twins.
