Fred Gerdes Zimmermann
Fred was born on September 2nd, 1877 in
Hanover, Lower Saxony, Germany.
1 He died at the age of 49 on December 25th, 1926 in
Monticello, Jones County, Iowa. He was buried at the
Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello, Jones County, Iowa.

- Fred was a resident of Monticello during the past four years and died at the John McDonald Hospital on Dec 25. He had been in ill health for a number of years. His condition was such that he ws taken to the hospital for treatment a week before his death. He returned to his home and was later returned to the hospital.
Fred was born in Hanover, Germany. He emigrated to the United States in 1898 and came directly to Jones Co. He bought a small farm in the Hardscrabble community, which he later sold, to purchase another farm closer to Monticello, Iowa.
In 1922 he sold that farm and moved to Monticello. Fred never married.
The funeral services were held at St Matthews Lutheran. He was buried at Oakwood Cemetery. (Notice from the Monticello Expess).
