Aljet was born on August 5th, 1846 in Voßbarg, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.1   Aljet's father was Gerd Cassiens Duis and his mother was Trientje Aljets Harbers. He had six brothers and four sisters, named Casien, Johann, Dirk, Jann, Renke, Gerd, Geske, Mareka, Christina and Johanna.  He was the second oldest of the eleven children.  He died at the age of 30 on August 17th, 1876 in Spetzerfehn, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.1
