Harmon, known as Harm, was born on February 16th, 1831 in Firrel, Leer, Lower Saxony, Germany.  Harm's father was Jan Eden Kuper and his mother was Heibe Tammen.  His paternal grandparents were Ede Janssen Kuper and Antje Eilderts; his maternal grandparents were Tamme Janssen and Janna Harms. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Ede, Tamme, Eilert, Gerd, Antje and Johanna. He had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named Jacob, Tamme, Johann, Heiko, Ocke and Moderina.  He died at the age of 70 on March 12th, 1901 in Atchison County, Missouri.
