Karl was born on March 16th, 1835 in Marienhagen, Germany.1   Karl's father was Heinrich Christian Bangert and his mother was Katherine Philippine Graebe.  His paternal grandparents were Johann Jost Bangert and Charlotte Katharina Gotte. He had four brothers and two sisters, named Johann, Johann, Johann, Johann, Henriette and Maria.  He was the youngest of the seven children.  He died from a heart attack at the age of 62 on April 5th, 1897.  He was buried at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois.1 1 





Karl's family

Karl and Catherine were married on November 24th, 1864.1   They had a biological son and a biological daughter, named Charles and Anna.  Karl adopted his a stepson and a stepdaughter, named Henry and Mary.
