Menne was born on August 25th, 1752 in Felde, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.  Menne's father was Johann Aden Tammen and his mother was Eje Janssen. He had a brother named Johann.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 59 on December 1st, 1811 in Wrisse, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.

Menne and Ete were married in a religious ceremony on September 1st, 1780 in Wrisse, Aurich, Lower Saxony, Germany.  They had five sons and four daughters, named Johann, Bartelt, Haye, Focce, Focke, Eje, Eje, Stienke and Eje.
