Avery was born on February 26th, 1756 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA.1   Avery's father was Thomas Mustain and his mother was Mary Haley. He had a brother and eight sisters, named Jesse, Anna, Winifred, Rebecca, Tabitha, Saludy "Luedy", Mildred "Millie", Sally and Molly.  He died at the age of 77 on August 31st, 1833 in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, USA.  He was buried in Mustain Barn Cemetery.2 2
