Capt. Charles was born in 1741 in Germantown, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.1 Capt. Charles' father was Jacob Anthony Henkel and his mother was Anna Margartha Witthaus. His paternal grandparents were Rev. Anton Jacob Henkel and Maria Elisabetha Dentzer. He was an only child. He died at the age of 42 in 1783 in Rowan County, North Carolina, USA.-
