Martin's father was William Gilpin and his mother is Elizabeth Washington.  His paternal grandparents are Edwin Gilpin and Margaret Layton.  He was an only child.  He died on December 18th, 1629 in England.  He was buried on December 19th, 1629 in Westmorland, England.1 1
