Szejna  was born on June 18th, 1891 in Grajewo, Lomza Gub., Poland.  Szejna 's father was Benjamin (Benko) Czerwinski and her mother was Itka  Bajla Amrowicz.  Her paternal grandparents were Ioszk Czerwinski and Sora  Marym Kadaryska.  She had a brother and two sisters, named Calko, Rochel and Chana.  She was the second oldest of the four children.
