Katalin was born on September 17th, 1728 in Jászfényszaru.1   Her godfather was Virág János and her godmother was Somody Katalin. Katalin's father was Dobó József and her mother was Cserháty Katalin.  Her maternal grandfather was Cserháty János and her maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. She had three brothers and a sister, named Ferenc, István, Béla and Erzsébet.  She was the fourth oldest of the five children.
