Mr Jacob Weiser

  • The first Weiser in the records that definitely prove this line is
    Jacob WEISER (Jr.). He bore the office of Schultheiss, or magistrate, at
    Gross Aspach, Germany. Jacob's father may have also been Schutheiss
    according to Conrad Weiser in his autobiography. The Weiser family
    was a relatively well off and respected family of peasants, related to
    the best families in town. Families often allied themselves by marriages.
    Included in such alliances were the Strumfeder, Schutheissen, and town
    pastor. Often the high patron Freiherr von Strumfeder was a godfather.
    Such a family was forward-striving and energetic with strong
    personalities who were usually entitled to a leading role. This was the
    sort of stock from which Jacob Weiser descended. Jacob apparently had
    a brother who was Stadtschreiber (town clerk) with the name, John Conrad
    Weiser. Their father was probably named Jacob WEISER also.
    Speculation sets the birth of Jacob (Jr.), about 1625, and assumes he
    died prior to 1694, when the parish register was begun again. The first
    records were destroyed in an invasion by the French. His wife was Anna,
    who died July 6, 1696, in Grossaspach at the age of sixty-eight years.
    They are known to have had two children: John Conrad WEISER and Hans Michael Weiser.
