Mary Jane Austen

Mary Jane was born in 1849 in Tenterden, Kent, England. Mary Jane's father was Thomas Austen and her mother was Sarah Wightwick. Her paternal grandparents were Samuel Austen and Catherine Reader; her maternal grandparents were John Wightwick and Elizabeth Newsham. She had six brothers and four sisters, named Thomas, Edward, Richard, James, Stephen, George, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann and Margaret. She was the tenth oldest of the eleven children.
