Catherine's father was John Simpson and her mother was Comfort Haines.  Her maternal grandfather is Nathaniel Haines. She had five brothers and four sisters, named Nathaniel Haines, Charles, John, Augustus W., Joseph, Sarah A., Mary, Phila M. and Susan.  She died in Advanced age, Exeter, Rockingham, New Hampshire.1
