Joseph was born in Kittery, York, Maine.  Joseph's father was Richard Nason and his mother was Sarah Nason.  His paternal grandparents are John Nason and Elizabeth Nason; his maternal grandparents are John Baker and Sarah. He had six brothers and a sister, named John, Jonathan, Richard, Benjamin, Benjamin, Charles and Sarah.  He died in Nantucket, Nantucket, Massachusetts.
