Joseph was born in 1905 in Serock, Pultusk, Warszaw, Poland.1   Joseph's father was David (Eleazer?) Pieniek and his mother was Hinda Perlman .  His paternal grandparents were Meyer Moishe Pieniek and Miriam Reizel Berkerowicz; his maternal grandparents are Yakov Perlman  and Golda. He had two brothers and two sisters, named Ya'akov (Yankel), ?, Bracha (Brania) and ?.  He died in the Holocaust.
