Thomas was born in 1756.  Thomas' father was Thomas Tyler (Fisherman) and his mother was Elizabeth Stradling.  His paternal grandfather was George Tyler and his paternal grandmother is Margaret; his maternal grandparents were Richard Stradling (Smack Owner Grave 742) and Elizabeth Turner. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Richard, George, James, Elizabeth and Mary.  He was the third oldest of the six children.
