Jacob was born in 1833 in Tennessee.  Jacob's father was Willaim F Owens and his mother was Ruth Farrell.  His paternal grandparents were Jacob Owens and Mary (Polly) Sharp; his maternal grandparents were Roger Farrell and Rachel Marsee.  He was an only child.  He died at the age of 39 in 1872 in Tennessee.

Jacob and Nancy were married on November 29th, 1853 in Tennessee.  They had a daughter named Mary.
