    Louis Dutarque, father of Captain John Dutarque, appears on the "Liste
    de Francois et Suisses Refugiez en Caroline qui souheittent d'etre
    naturalizes Anglois" under the Act of 1696 for French Protestants
    seeking naturalization: "Louis Dutarque ne en Picardie, fils de
    Mathias Dutarque, et de Anne Foulon." Louis held warrents for 300
    acres dated August 1701, and 600 acres dated July 1708, both in
    Berkeley County. His wife Christain Maria died on February 6, 1732.
    Louis Dutarque was buried on the family plantation on October 11,
    1748.

    immigrant
