Thomas was born in 1714 in Eckington, Derbyshire, England.  Thomas' father was Ralph STATON and his mother was Ethyeldra DORE.  His paternal grandfather was Radolphus STATON and his paternal grandmother is (Unknown).  He had three brothers and a sister, named William, Ralph, John and Helen.  He was the third oldest of the five children.
