John was born on December 6th, 1747 in Stone, Staffordshire, England.  John's father was Thomas BOX and his mother was Ann SWINDALL.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas BOX and Anna PADMORE.  He had three sisters named Alice, Sarah and Annie.  He was the second oldest of the four children.
