SC:  Margaret 5, James F. 2, Peter W. 4/12.  No other RIVERS h/holds among immediate neighbors, but there are miner Levi/Martha KNIGHT 29/32 SC/SC; Frederic's wife Cyntha's maiden name may have been KNIGHT.  Note also four other Frederick RIVERS in Chesterfield in 1850 (b. 1778, 1799, 1828, and 1837)

    There is a Frederick RIVERS in the 1850 Slave Schedule for Chesterfield, Chesterfield Cty, SC who owns 13 slaves.  Unclear which of the 4 from the census is he, but Frederick RIVERS Sr from 1840 is the likely match.  Contiguous names in 1850 are David RIVERS and Lewis BOATRIGHT.  Possible that this is Frederick W.'s grandfather.
    
    An online tree claims our Frederick's father was William, b. 1776 in Chesterfield, SC.  1840 has two Williams in Chesterfield:  Junior and Senior.  Senior is a few years too old to be William 1776, but there is another male in h/hold the right age for Frederick W. 1817 SC.

    In the 1840 US Census for Chesterfield Cty, SC there are two heads of h/hold enumerated as "Frdk RIVERS":  Jr 1800-1810 (310001-110010001, 7 entries from btm, no slaves, 9 persons total, 1 in agric) (too old) and Sr 1760-1770 (0110001001-000001001, 12 lines from top, slaves:  4 males 10-24, 5 females 0-10, 3 females 24-36, 18 persons total, 8 engaged in agriculture).  In all, 34 RIVERS heads of h/holds were counted in SC in 1840, no other Frederick or F or middle initial F.  Five RIVERS in NC in 1840, no Frederick or F or middle initial F.
