Sophie BENOODT

Sophie was born on January 25th, 1841. Sophie's father was Bernard BENOODT and her mother was Abe H. LOOTENS. Her maternal grandparents were Francies LOOTENS and Anna VAN HEYSTE. She had a sister named Marie-Therese. She was the older of the two children. She had four half-brothers and a half-sister, named Karel-Ludovicus, Augustus, Petrus, Henri and Ludovica. She died at the age of 53 on March 20th, 1894.

  According to the marriage certificate for Sophie's marriage to Jean-Baptiste Taelman, she presented a birth certificate showing that she was the dtr of Bernard Benoodt and Rosalie Lootens, and giving her birth place as Hansbeke. However, the Hansbeke registers of births for 1823-1833, 1833-1843 and 1843-1853 contain no Benoodts, nor is there a matching record from 1833-1843 in Nevele, Bellem, Aalter, Lotenhulle or Poeke. (Note: The Nevele archives include those for Hansbeke; Aalter archives include Bellem, Lotenhulle and Poeke.)
