    1850 US Census, Lauderdale Cty, AL, Thos BARNETT (61 SC est b 1789, val of real est 4,000 (!), lvg with Nancy 45 TN, William 26 AL, Sarah 20 AL, Phoebi 18 AL, Thomas 16 AL, Lucy 11 AL, Henryetta 9 AL) who also appears in District 1, Lauderdale in 1850 (= ygr bro/cousin?).  This Thos. BARNETT was appointed Tax Collector for Lauderdale on 24 Jan 1819.  See also marriage record:  married Nancy WILLIAMS 15 Dec 1823, official was David MG LANCASTER (as transcribed by WPA).

    A "Thos. BARNETT" owned 26 slaves per 1850 Slave Schedules, and posted following notice:
    
    From the Florence Gazette, Saturday, December 7, 1850, p. 3.
    
    RANAWAY [sic]
    
    RANAWAY [sic] from Henery Musleman, some time in the month of January last, a Negro man named ERASMUS, about forty years of age, copper complexion. A reward of ten dollars will be given for the apprehension and delivery of said negro, to said Muselman, or if lodged in some safe jail so that he can get him. It is believed that said negro is lurking about the neighborhood of said Muselman on Shoal Creek in this County, (Lauderdale.)

    from Lauderdale Cty, AL INVENTORY BOOK A – 1, 1818-1822, pg. 5:  "24 Jan 1819. Bond of Thomas BARNETT, appointed Tax Collector for the County of Lauderdale. $10,000. Bondsmen: John WADDLE and William CRITTINGTON, all of Lauderdale County, Alabama. Signed: Thos. BARNETT, John WADDLE, W. T. CRITTINTUN. Recorded 11 Feb 1820 by W. W. GARRARD"  Zedekiah TATE had previously been appt'd tax collector for the county on 28 Jul 1818.
    
    Thos. BARNETT has entries on pp. 604-5 and 618-19 of LAUDERDALE COUNTY, ALABAMA, INVENTORY BOOK "C"  - 1857-1859 - INDEX.  This book is located in the record room of the Lauderdale County, Alabama Probate Judge.  Same has Lucy BARNETT on pg. 183.
    
    Lucy BARNETT has an entry on pg. 543 of LAUDERDALE COUNTY, ALABAMA, INVENTORY BOOK "B"  - 1853 -1857 - INDEX.  This book is located in the Lauderdale County, Alabama Probate Judge's offices.  Same has  L. G. BARNETT entry on pg. 235.
    
    A Thomas BARNETT is referenced in an inventory of the Goods and Chattels of Doc't JOHN ROBINSON, dec'd., late of Pendleton Village, SC, 15 Oct. 1841.
    
    A Thomas BARNETT is referenced in an Anderson County bill of sale dated 1839-1845.  Bill of sale relates to estate of John COOLEY, dec'd.
