Margaret's father was William Montgomery [Crosscandly] Boyd and her mother was Margaret Jane Hutchinson.  Her paternal grandparents were Edward Boyd and Margaret Usher. She had two brothers and a sister, named Hugh, William and Annie.  She was the second youngest of the four children.
