Mary was born in 1835.

• Birth Notes

  OAP Census enquiry shows Mary Bellingham aged 16 in 1851.  Gravestone also gives her as 85 when she died in 1920.

Mary's father was Thomas Bellingham and her mother was (Margaret or Mary) Jane McCart.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Bellingham and ???? ????. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Francis, John, Robert, Thomas, Fannie, Hester, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the third youngest of the nine children.  She died at the age of 85 on April 8th, 1920.

• General Notes

  It is the existence of this woman which suggests there were two Thomases rather than one Thomas who married twice - why would he have two daughters called Mary? The William McKay she married at Rasharkin Church of Ireland does not seem to be a brother of my Georgina McKay because he came from Lislea and was the son of a farmer not a policeman.
  I think it was this lady who was present at the birth of my grandfather, Thomas Gordon, in 1884, as the record says "Present at Birth: Mary McKay, Aunt, Lislea" - she was actually his great aunt, the aunt of his mother whose name is in the previous column.
