Hester's father was John Bellingham and his mother was Margaret Jane (Peggy) Hasty.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Bellingham and (Margaret or Mary) Jane McCart. He had five brothers and seven sisters, named Thomas, James, John, Robert, Francis, Eliza, Margaret, Fanny, Mary, Emily, William and Hessie.  He was the fifth youngest of the thirteen children.  He died at 1 months old on April 21st, 1868.
