Margaret's father was Joseph Lafferty and her mother was Margaret French.  Her paternal grandparents were John Lafferty and Mary Ann Davidson. She had five brothers and four sisters, named John, Joseph, Joseph, Malcolm, Lewis, Mary, Mary, Elizabeth and Rebecca.  She was the fourth oldest of the ten children.  She died at the age of 68 in 1933 in Paisley.
